Weather: Heat, lotsa heat. It's been in the 90's all week and very humid. The humidity will break today and it will get cooler over the weekend. A good one to sleep outside...
Garden report: Bunches of happy and healthy tomatoes, best I've ever grown. I suckered and tied them up over the weekend and the fruit should be ready in a few days ~ Maybe some caliente fresh salsa with the yummy pepper that is begging for picking. I also have some gorgeous english cukes.
Listening: Addicted to Tim Easton right now. I'll sit by and listen to the old standbys for a time, and then remember he's there, and go to seek him out like a lover on the side. The album is "Ammunition," turned on to me by CD101 DJ Rae on an early Sunday morning :).
Reading: The Red Tent By Anita Diament. So far so good, having a hell of a time staying awake for much anything lately.
Best Summer Pleasures: Breakfasting with Cindy on a restaurant terrace as the sun came up, talking about sad things, whispering about the lady with the dog next to us, and laughing. Splashing in the creek with the kids, finding minnows and turtles. 4 o'clock rain. Morning driving and music. Riding the scooter downhill and making a fake breeze in the hot evenings. Showers alone or not alone. Seeing friends while walking. Bike rides. Running from a delighted squealing child with a squirt gun.
Worst Summer Displeasures: Television noise, watching other people's kids for days at a time (which I'm not doing for the rest of the Summer!). Fleas, flies and gnats. Hot pavement.
Favorite Summer Meal: Bowl of greens with grilled chicken, cucumbers, vidalia onions, tomatoes, and avocado
Summer memory: Walking to the library in the hot, quiet haze; thick, heavy air and gauzy sun; finding shade while waiting for the stoplight to change, walking on cue and being followed by kids lined up like stairsteps (made this one today).
