We were talking yesterday at lunch about how books are made into movies and so often sorely disappoint the reader who waits with anticipation to see the images in her/his head turned into life on a screen outside of themselves. I mentioned about the book I recently read by John Connolly called The Book of Lost Things. I read on Wiki that it was being developed as a screenplay. And I said, "Even with the author adapting the book into a screenplay very often doesn't work, you notice that? Like the inspiration was there when the book was written, but not as easy is it to find the same door to the room you looked in when you wrote it the first time...." My hopes are high for this one though.
Yesterday was our 14th anniversary and we went to lunch since being at home at night means much more than going out to a crowded restaurant for supper. We didn't walk last evening, but made cookies and ate them while watching a DVD of Ben Franklin, one that was from the History Channel. And then stayed up most of the night attending to a child with a sick stomach. These are the days we'll remember.
I said to Royce, "14 years seems like so long, but the day we left town to get married seems so recent." He said what he often says, "It was just a moment ago."

Congrats!
Congratulations on your moments - past, present, and future :)
Happy anniversary!
And I agree about making books into movies. They are so different in nature -- one internal, the other external. I'm almost always disappointed in the movie. They never seem to capture what went on inside my mind while reading the book.
Hello friends! And thanks!
