Much Ado about Nuthin'

Friday, September 15, 2006

Nicholas was working today and while mowing he found a nest of bunnies. He ran over them, but over them so they were unhurt. I came in tonight from work and he said that the guy he was with decided to put them in a bucket, and take them home to his girlfriend.

I was like, "WHAT?"
Nick went, "He thought they were cute and she might like to try and keep them as pets."
I said, "Nick you know better, what happened?"
He was like, "I didn't want to be a pussy in front of him mom."
This bright gorgeous talented intelligent kid thought he might look bad in front of an imbecile. God I don't even get that.

I called my friend at the wildlife center and he said to get the bunnies back to the nest as soon as we could. So we took off in the car to the shop where the guys left them, but upon arriving found that the bucket was gone. We looked everywhere and then went home, no way to find out what happened to them until Monday. So, the mother rabbit will come to the nest to feed her babies in the night, and they will be missing; instead they will be laying in a bucket in a living room of some woman who thinks they are cute, cooing over them while they starve to death.

I hate people sometimes.

But I love Nick and here is a photo he took of himself this evening.

Nice pic. Trying not to look bad in front of morons is what we do all the time. I'm glad to see that you're still posting.

I kept checking it anyway :)

Awwwww. I'm speechless. Wup, here's my tongue. Maybe this will be a very diificult lesson to all involved about marveling the wonders of nature as an observer only. Seeing a bucket of dead baby rabbits and feeling responsible for it may be the very thing to make this person think about beauty and life more deeply. I dunno. I hope so. Ideally though, the guy took them to his girlfriend and SHE enoyed looking at them and then made him take them back! Let us know how this one ended.

We never found out! I will track down that information ASAP. I would guess that the bunny news will not be good :(

Steven did, however, find a bird the next day. It was a goldfinch and we though it was with a bad wing, but apparently it was just a fledgling. So sweet, no photos unfortunately; we did take it to the hospital and they set him free in a few days time.

I guess I should maybe blog some more ~ Been real busy.

Hope all is well for alla you blokes and bloketresses.

Nice photos scoob :)
