Much Ado about Nuthin'

Work is slowing down, it's been a very busy few months... now come and find me lazy... walking, riding, perusing the library, swimming, Tecumseh (yeah, I did. I wrote Tecumseh :)), family vacation, readying for school, sleeping in... delighting in the dog days...

Another day at home for me...

August seems to be the month when everything starts to slow down ~ Blooming swells to it's fullest and then lays there.. satiated.... breathing slow, restful respirations, dozing in the warm, golden, moist after-zenith...

Recovery, revitalizing....

Walking at dusk last night I remembered that I wanted to add here that I'm reading William Styron's Havanas in Camelot, a selection of personal essays published this year.

From his Obituary:

"When the Styrons settled in their Connecticut farmhouse and began a family, his life became the ideal of any aspiring writer: productive yet relaxed, sociable yet protected. On the door frame outside his workroom, he tacked a piece of cardboard with a quotation from Flaubert written on it: “Be regular and orderly in your life, like a good bourgeois, so that you may be violent and original in your work.”

The precept seemed to work for him, but it was an unconventional routine he stuck to: sleep until noon; read and think in bed for another hour or so; lunch with Rose around 1:30; run errands, deal with the mail, listen to music, daydream and generally ease into work until 4. Then up to the workroom to write for four hours, perfecting each paragraph until 200 or 300 words are completed; have cocktails and dinner with the family and friends at 8 or 9; and stay up until 2 or 3 in the morning, drinking and reading and smoking and listening to music."

What a way to live. Years ago I could sleep till noon. I could never do that now. My inner clock has changed.

Oh I know. Really though I've always been a morning bird, up at the break.. even on late nights out (years and years ago :)). Unsure why, because I'd really like to know what it's like to sleep til noon. Sleeping in now means 7:30 lol

And I should've knocked on wood while I wrote that because busy-ness found us again. It was a wild day today.

Hope you have beauty of a weekend! And lots of long sweet dreams :)
