Sistuhs

I'm trying to type ... but made a mistake and changed the font and I don't know what font I started with... hm this one is too little.. what about this one.. o.k. maybe this one, yeah this is the one. It's called Lucida Grande and I'm going to write it here if this dilemma ever comes up again.

Why do cats feel like they can sit on kitchen tables..and we put up with it. Can you imagine if you had a dog and it jumped up on your table and stuck it's head in your water glass... I have no idea why cats don't rule the world. They can do whatever they want. Baby Kitty is staring at me. She wants something. I think she wants me to go to bed since I am her space heater. But no, I'm not tired Baby Kitty, you'll have to wait. The other day I caught her growling at her reflection in the mirror, and then I saw her go up and smell the mirror and then she looked behind it. ...I thought that was kind of smart ~ there is ruling potential there.

O.k. but back to my life, Baby Kitty be damned. We went today to see some friends called The Little Sistuhs Drummers ~ they invited us to come watch them play for their 5th Anniversary. The girls are between the ages of 7 and 19 and are African drummers, dancers and storytellers. Mama Neal is their director and the girls are just terrific. I needed to be with other women today, women who are connected to the planet through music like this to midwife me through this place I am in... It was so healing and they invited me up to dance and we danced to a number called a Harvest Dance. I was a thresher and at the end we all danced in a circle to the drumbeat and harvested and shouted with joy. It was marvelous. I felt a little self conscious because I'm so fuckin white (and so fuckin tall...) but they didn't care... When Mama Neal told a story about two young lovers who were parted by a disapproving father she had the girls gather together and sing the song the young man would sing to the girl of his love ~ they sounded so sweet, the harmonies and young voices, god, you had to close your eyes ... that closing eyes thing really impacts the ingestion of the drums, the music, it helps pull it a solar plexus direction and it melts the the hard candy in your core and just ... dissipates. This has now absorbed into me creating a more me. I'll think more on it and report back because I'm still hearing the drums inside, they must not be through doing their thing...
