November

I wanted to entitle this November because I love the word and I probably wouldn't remember to do it before the month is over. And it's almost over. I hear Christmas music at the grocery store and I feel like telling them to bite their tongues. Christmas... It was just Summer like 15 minutes ago. I should probably ski this winter to get through it 'til Spring. I say that every year.

Winter is not easy for warm weather people.

One night last July I was out with some other riders and I was lagging behind.. just tired and couldn't keep up and from out of the air came the hand of... god. I felt this warm strong feeling on the small of my back pushing me up the hill to catch up. I looked over and it was one of the elites. He was late arriving to the ride and speed demoning along at probably his usually 22 minute pace and he pushed me along. He looked over and said, "Just pedal and stay to the right." And he smiled a dazzling smile. We stayed that way for about 5 minutes. I was sort of hoping he would just stay with me and he did for awhile. He was getting ready to go to the Alps for some race and was telling me about it, but by this time his hand was off my back and we were just side by side. I had half a notion to ask him to put it back on because it was really very erotic. But he was doing the longer ride and I went off with a friend in another direction.

Sometimes I think what would it be like to live in a climate that is warm year-round. It would be a totally different future for the children than what I had here and what we know now. There's an element of intoxicating wonder about that. The potential of a new climate, what does the air do in a different part of the world at noon? How does it look and feel at different times of the day. What would our interests be and how they would they evolve. Who would we be in a warmer sun.
