Home today. Steven has gym and art and I'm typing on their pc. We set up a tower and computer in their bedroom over the weekend. I miss my laptop, but only a little. I don't like this keyboard and it's funny sitting in a chair to write email or post a blog.
I'm looking out of their bedroom window into our snowy backyard. All the boards with nails sticking out of them are covered with snow; no one could imagine how perilous it would be to go walking back there. The dog seems to sense the danger though, she steers clear of the debris.
I'm working on a few projects at home. I have a drawing book and I'm doodling and coloring, it's really fun. Art doesn't have to suck or be frustrating. I also am learning how to knit much better. I've been watching vids on you-tube to learn new stitches and techniques. But I am trying to wean myself from the computer. I don't suspect I will ever be pc-free, but I am finding that I'm consciously choosing to pursue other interests instead of reading Huffington or mindlessly researching some dead celebrities unsolved murder.
Books I'm reading:
Son of a Witch by Gregory MaGuire
Finding Beauty in a Broken World by Terry Tempest Williams
Stitch 'n Bitch Nation by Debbie Stoller
DVD's I'm watching (or watched) :
Sense and Sensibility
Mansfield Park
(JE, re-watching Jane Austen Book Club - my new favorite :))
On T.V.
DVR'ing American Idol
MSNBC (Hardball, Countdown) (Ok, I'm knitting and watching the news at night, does this indicate that I'm aging?? Once I start putting hardtack candy in little bowls around the house, you have my permission to kill me.)
Movie Theater fave right now:
Valkyrie (Loved this movie)
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ok shower and then hanging with my homey dude, Steven.
Nicholas is home, too, but sleeping. Working later, though; short hours this month. The shop where he works is slow right now... He asked me about going to school in California. Why in the world would he need to go to CA to go to school. I suggested he go to school right here. Kids always want to go to California.

Who knew?
Kids do always want to go to California. I remember wanting to do that.
I wanted to go to New York, but ended up in California. And look at how well I turned out.
%)
I was always bass-ackwards that way.
I liked Jane Austen Book Club, too.
That's why I live in California - so my kids won't want to leave.
Now watch... they will decide they need to go to college in Ohio ;)
Everyone should get to California at some point - to get it out of their system, if nothing else. But I would not be interested in paying out-of-state tuition.
I took a bus trip to CA once, with my sister who was too scared to fly. She was invited to the PETA millenia gala with her ex husband by the guy who owns Paul Mitchell. She was afraid to fly, so we took a bus..with a 3 yo. I went as the nanny. It was a very interesting trip...involving a psycho stalker on the bus, a man with a tattooed face, the Four Seasons hotel, and Sissy Spacek.
Ok Alana, must have more now... :)
