5 minutes at 29,000 feet

It's kind of like a rollercoaster idn't it, brief flights. All I know is it a crazy way to travel. And exhilerating. I plan to do it more often. In fact I think I will take Nick to NYC and Lea to Chicago for a weekend before the year is up. Nicholas and I have always wanted to go to NY and stay in the city over Christmas. He's getting older and developing what I think might be his first relationship with a girl. What I mean by "I think" is that I know he hasn't had another real girlfriend, but I think this particular girl might change all that. But anyhoo, this means I better act fast because soon I will be .. not so important. It'd be fun to have a going out celebration :)

Mothering is a funny thing, brief too. But you don't see that it's like air travel. It's like going up in that 737 and I know I'm thousands of feet in the air but I don't really notice, I can shut the shade, open a book and be on the ground a little later not even realising I just travelled 700 miles, thousands of feet in the air. Sometimes though I pay close attention... and watch the geometrical shapes of farmland and the golden lights of the cities and small towns as the sun descends, the movement of the quickness of time.

Well anyway, Nick is coming home soon to watch the kids as I traipse off to my next sewing lesson. I can't wait... Oh yeah, I can. I can wait.
