Nicholas was in my room petting Baby Kitty and I walked in and he looked at me and stopped what he was doing.. he went, “Why are you wearing that?”
“What…?” Looking down at the oversized, faded sweatpants of Royce’s and sweatshirt I was swimming in. I saw I threw on some workboots to complete the ensemble.. I was like, “Well it’s just something I put on to take Gabriel home…”
He looked kinda thoughtful and said after a few seconds, nodding, “You look like one of those really pretty trailer trash girls.”
I bit my lower lip and said, “Nicky, thank you, I’m oddly touched.”
And I was.
He said, “Do you know what they call trailer parks?”
I went, “ Huh-uh.”
He said, “They call them Canned Communities.”
I was like, “Oh I didn’t know that.”
He goes, “Get it? CANNED instead of PLANNED?”
Yes I get it Nick.
A few minutes later he jumped up and said, “Im goin to erics. Bye.
He turned around at the door and went, “What’re we having for supper?”
I said, ”Chicken fingers, coca-cola and barbecue potato chips.”
He’s like, “Really?”
No not really.
(psst, Pat Metheny's "American Garage" is a close contender as being my all time favorite album. "The Search" is the song that is one of my life's themes....)( so dramatic aren't I? :))
