Much Ado about Nuthin'

Friday, February 27, 2009

"Regale me with light!"
said lonely Gaia to the moon
"Let me spin my blues betwixt your milky beams.."

The moon replied to Gaia,
"My light is borrowed from the sun
so cloudy nights I'm not available it seems"

"Sometimes I'll dance in darkness...,"
Gaia troubled by the thought
Reconsidering the moon in her longing plea

"Yes," the moon opined, "but only half the time."
It dawned on Gaia,
"Perhaps you'll follow me?"

"As if I have a choice..."
The moon replied in wry,
"Since I think it's already
 been arranged..."

The moon fell in time
with Gaia's softshoe rhyme
And so the wobbly giant's
lonesome life had changed

They've been eons in rotation
The moon and Gaia abide
And sometimes the moon can cause tremendous waves

So Gaia sometimes wonders
If the option was again presented
Would her proposal to the moon have been the same

"You make my head spin,
"You cause my body great distress
I'm not sure why the attraction between us lingers."

The moon shrugged, "It's not for us to say
I guess it's just our chemistry.."
While she massaged old Gaia
with her light-filled fingers

Yay! How starry eyed and daydreamy!

What color? I still need measurements.

lol Loki hates it.

I couldn't fit numbers in once I started playing with this silly thing.

Measurements means I'll have to measure, right? I wouldn't even know where to begin... :)

Lol that's not what I said.

Before you begin measuring you need to determine what you want. It's no use measuring your head if you want curtains. Unless they're for a very small window of course.

Measuring a head for curtains... Or, unless you are Scarlett O'Hara.

Wow, I missed this whole conversation. Must remember to check email notification box.

Well, it is different for you, for sure, K. Not what I expected.

Going to go send you some flair now.

Well I woke with that in my head, begging, "Regale me with light" because it's soooooo cold and dark... but all that is out when I wake is the moon. And the sun for sure is mostly a no-show anyway.

As I wrote the first words it sounded like a rhyming poem so I went with it. And since I can't rhyme like Frost, I had to do it in a tongue in cheek way. But it really started to emerge with this photo I had in my head of Amy and Hiliary my next door neighbors, if you ever see it on my facebook, you might see why. But you know how poems evolve, they are many things (even the bad ones :))

So maybe it's not a bad poem but a pretty good experiment.

or... probably just being silly :).

Royce loves it lol He thinks I should submit it to some moon/space thing (I guess this is "The year of astronomy") that's going on this year. As always, I'm thinkin, not...

Well, you know what they say: the silliest experiments are always the best. And if they didn't say that, they could have said it.

Well and they sure should have :)
